The Panthers moved through the morning by selecting 6-3, 195-pound defenseman Colby Robak
with the 46th selection from the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League and then 6-4, 205-pound defenseman Adam Comrie from Saginaw of the Ontario Hockey League.
Virginia and Ottawa Lay Claim To Comrie
Robak was selected with the 46th pick after trading their 49th pick in this draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2009 Draft to Phoenix.
Robak is a 6-3, 195-pound defenseman from the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. Ranked 13th by Central Scouting, Robak had six goals (30 points) in 71 games last season.
Robak was not in attendance. The 18-year-old flew back home to Manitoba early Saturday morning to attend his high school graduation.
Comrie was born in Ottawa but moved to Virginia when he was nine. He models his game after Chris Pronger. Ranked in the 80s during Central Scouting’s midterm report, he ended up being the No. 44-ranked North American skater by Central Scouting at the end of the year.
