New Community Initiative to Support Underprivileged South Florida Youth
SUNRISE, FL – The Florida Panthers Foundation in conjunction with RW Todd Bertuzzi today announced the formation of Bertuzzi's Buddies, a charitable program where Bertuzzi will donate tickets to underprivileged South Florida children for Panthers home games throughout the season.
"I love working with kids and it was very important for my wife Julie and I to get immediately involved in the South Florida community," said Bertuzzi. "As a professional athlete it is important for us to give back to those who are less fortunate. I look forward to volunteering my time within the community as we continue to grow the sport of hockey in South Florida."
Along with the donated tickets, the children who participate in the program will be seated in a specially designated area inside the BankAtlantic Center, which will be marked with banners and highlighted on the video-board throughout the game. In addition, each participant will receive a Bertuzzi's Buddies T-shirts and gift bag. Bertuzzi will also make various appearances throughout the South Florida community in support of his new program and the Panthers Foundation.
"In our initial conversation, Todd was extremely eager to find out how he could become involved in our club's community relations efforts," said V.P. Community Development Randy Moller. "Bertuzzi's Buddies is an excellent program that will allow Todd to give back to our community, while also impacting these children's lives through meet and greets and autograph sessions."
