The Portland Pirates jump onto a three-game winning streak, while Lawson Crouse, Jayce Hawryluk and Samuel Montembeault represent their respective leagues in the Canada-Russia Series.

BREAKING THROUGH

After going winless in their last five games, the Pirates jumped onto a three-game winning streak with back-to-back wins against the Hartford Wolf Pack, before topping their division rival Providence Bruins in a shootout on Sunday.

LIGHTING THE LAMP

Kyle Rau and Logan Shaw combined for five goals over Portland's last three games.

Rau recorded goals in both the Nov. 11 Hartford match-up and Nov. 15 Providence game, while also scoring the shootout game-winner against the P-Bruins. Rau’s six goals on the season rank him tied for the team lead in goals.

All over Hartford last week, Shaw found the back of the net three times in the two-game series with the Wolf Pack. The 23-year old scored twice against the Wolf Pack on Nov. 11 and tallied the game-winning goal in the following contest on Nov. 13.

MILITARY APPRECIATION

The Pirates wore a United States flag-themed jersey for their Nov. 13 match-up with Hartford in honor of Military Appreciation Night at Cross Insurance Arena.

A PIRATE’S LIFE

With his 56th win in a Pirates uniform on Sunday (Nov. 15) against Providence, Mike McKenna became the third winningest goaltender in Portland’s history. Making 25 saves in the game, McKenna backstopped the Pirates to a 3-2 shootout victory, stopping all three Providence shooters.

JUNIORS

CAPTAIN CROUSE

For the Ontario Hockey League’s two-game series with Team Russia, Panthers 2015 first rounder (11th overall), Lawson Crouse was named Captain of Team OHL. Team OHL swept the series with a 2-1 win in game two. Crouse finished the series with a +2 rating.

A CASE FOR JAYCE

Panthers 2014 second rounder (32nd overall) Jayce Hawryluk represented Team WHL in the Canada-Russia Series, recording two points (1-1-2) in two games. His two points came in the final minutes of game two vs. Russia, to be named Team WHL player of the game.

THE FULL MONTY

Florida’s 2015 third round pick (77th overall), Goaltender Samuel Montembeault is set to represent Team QMJHL in the final two games of the Canada-Russia Series. The two contests games will take place on Nov. 17 and 18, in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec and Halifax, Nova Scotia respectively.
