GM Mike Keenan Steps Down
SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that General Manager Mike Keenan has resigned his position in order to pursue other career opportunities. Head Coach Jacques Martin will assume the general manger duties effective immediately.
"Mike has done a tremendous job over the past two years in positioning this franchise for immediate and future success. I want to thank him for his hard work and commitment to our organization," Florida Panthers Owner Alan Cohen said. "He has assembled the most talented team in our franchise's history and he has continued our commitment to drafting, developing and signing our players. Furthermore, I am confident that this will be a seamless transition process. Coach Martin is one of the most respected and successful coaches in the National Hockey League who possesses a vast amount of knowledge about the league and its' players. I am sure that he will excel in his new role as both general manager and head coach."
