SUNRISE, FL – The Florida Panthers Foundation raised over $50,000 at the Annual Golf Classic, presented by the South Florida Hyundai Dealers on Monday, January 12. Over 150 guests attended the event which featured fans teeing it up with Florida Panthers players, coaches and broadcasters at Parkland Golf & Country Club.  The Annual Golf Classic was additionally sponsored by Ameriprise, the Boca Raton Florist, Cotton Traders, Edco Awards & Specialties, Print Basics, RE/MAX, RSM McGladry, Steven D. Gelbard, M.D., P.A and TaylorMade.

The Annual Golf Classic began with a 10:30 shotgun tee off at Parkland Golf & Country Club. Each foursome was joined by a Panthers player, coach or broadcaster and throughout the day each guest enjoyed gourmet catering and beverages on each hole of the course. Participating restaurants included: Tossed, the Melting Pot, Fresh Market, Payzin’s, Bistro Mio, Pizza Time Café in Parkland, Quarterdeck and Beef O’Bradys.

“I am proud to announce that our Annual Golf Classic, presented by the South Florida Hyundai Dealers, raised over $50,000,” said Florida Panthers Foundation Chairman Stu Siegel. “The event was a great success and I would like to thank the entire Florida Panthers team for their support. Additionally, I would like to thank Parkland Golf & Country Club and their exceptional staff for hosting this event. Of course, this event would not have been as successful without the generous support of our sponsors and fans. We look forward to the same level of support for our Fourth Annual Ice & Dice Casino Night on February 20.”

"On behalf of the South Florida Hyundai Dealers Association, we are proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Annual Florida Panthers Foundation Golf Classic," said Rick Case of the South Florida Hyundai Dealers Association.  "This year’s event topped last year’s and we are pleased to contribute to the new Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.”

The Florida Panthers Foundation is currently underway with planning the Fourth Annual Ice & Dice Casino Night. This event, which is the signature fundraising event of the 2008-09 season, is being held at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa on Friday, February 20 from 6:30 – 11 p.m. Sponsorships are still available, for more information, please call (954) 835-7715.

The Florida Panthers Foundation is dedicated to building a better future for the children of South Florida. Between cash and in-kind donations, the foundation has provided over $1 million over the past year to a multitude of local charitable organizations, including The Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, a preferred beneficiary of the foundation. With its new Stick To Fitness program, the Florida Panthers Foundation is supporting Governor Crist’s Council on Physical Fitness to help bodycheck childhood diseases associated with lack of exercise such as obesity, diabetes and malnutrition.
