November is often associated with plenty of holiday food, but there are many families who struggle to put food on their tables on daily basis, let alone enjoy a holiday feast. In support of those facing difficulty in the local community, the Florida Panthers Foundation and Feeding South Florida are teaming up to collect non-perishable and canned goods at select Panthers games this month.
Fans are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable food items to the Panthers home games on Sunday, Nov. 13 vs. Philadelphia, Saturday, Nov. 19 vs. Pittsburgh and Monday, Nov. 21 vs. New Jersey. During all three games, the food drive will take place on the BankAtlantic Center's jetBlue Tarmac from 90 minutes before puck drop through the end of the first period. All fans who bring food in support of the food drive will receive a 20% merchandise discount at Pantherland.
Some of the most useful items in food drives include: canned meats/tuna, rice and beans (dry or canned), canned fruits and vegetables, canned soups, macaroni and cheese and plastic containers of peanut butter and jelly.
Additionally, fans who participate in the food drive have a chance to win (random selection) a unique player-autographed item. At lease one Brian Campbell
-signed can of Campbell's Soup will be given away during each night of the food drive.
