Panthers D Noah Welch scores first goal for Rochester

Florida Panthers prospect and Rochester Americans defenseman Noah Welch recorded his first tally as an Amerk, and center Kamil Kreps recorded his 12th of the year Sunday night in the Americans game against Syracuse. The Panthers acquired Welch at the trading deadline in a deal with Pittsburgh in exchange for Gary Roberts. Kreps is another Panthers prospect who made his NHL debut on Jan. 7 when the Cats visited Vancouver. He scored his first NHL point, an assist, on Jan. 13 vs. Washington at the BankAtlantic Center.
The Amerks currently sit in second place in the North Division of the American Hockey League and are poised to make a run at the AHL Championship. They will remain at home for a two-game series against the Toronto Marlies this week.
The Panthers ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades defeated Colombia 7-3 last night and currently lead the South Division of the American Conference. The Everblades season will conclude on April 7 and then the Blades will prepare for a playoff run at the Kelly Cup Trophy.Panthers prospect Dustin Johner leads the team in goals with 26 and is second on the Blades with 57 points (26-31-57).
