When the Panthers begin their 14th season on the ice Thursday evening in New York, they will be focused on becoming the first Panther team to break a five-season playoff drought. They will do so with arguably the deepest team this franchise has ever had.
But to move ahead, you have to remember the past. The good and bad.
So below are a few numbers for the Panthers to remember, erase, and think about come the 2007-08 season.
92 – The number of points needed the last two seasons to qualify for the Eastern Conference playoffs.
4 – The total number of victories combined by the Panthers the past two seasons in the month of November.
12- The number of Panther wins on the road in each of the last two seasons.
24 – The number of Eastern Conference opponents the Panthers will play in their first two months of the season.
13 – The number of Southeast Division teams the Panthers will play during their first two months of the season.
337 – The number of power play opportunities last season by the Panthers. The fewest in the NHL.
443 – The number of times the Panthers were short-handed last season. Tied for second in the league.
14-23-8 - Record through the first 20 games the past two seasons…
14-2-3 - The Panthers record when Rostislav Olesz scored a point.
