Cats to Face-off Against NY Rangers in First Caribbean NHL Contest

SUNRISE, FL – The Florida Panthers today announced their eight game 2006 preseason schedule.

The 2006 preseason slate is highlighted by a contest against the New York Rangers at Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in downtown San Juan, Puerto Rico on Sept. 23. This will mark the first time in the Panthers' franchise history that the club will play a game outside of North America and the first National Hockey League game in the Caribbean.

The Cats open the preseason with six consecutive road games, beginning on Sunday, Sept. 17 against the Calgary Flames. Florida also will play road contests in Edmonton (Sept. 18), Atlanta (Sept. 20) and Chicago (Sept. 21), before traveling to Puerto Rico. Florida closes out their road preseason schedule with a contest in Detroit on Sept. 24.

The Panthers complete their preseason schedule with a pair of back-to-back home contests hosting Atlanta on Wednesday, Sept. 27 and Chicago on Thursday, Sept. 28. The Cats completed the 2005 preseason with a 3-2-1 mark.

The Panthers will also offer special preseason group ticket packages for both games. On Wednesday night, the Panthers will host a corporate networking event for local businesses. On Thursday, the team will hold a Girl Scouts & Teacher Appreciation Night, with a portion of the ticket sales being donated in support of each cause.
