Panthers Announce Bill Torrey Tribute Night On Oct. 23

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Florida Panthers will host Bill Torrey Tribute Night on Saturday, Oct. 23 when the Cats host the New York Islanders at the BankAtlantic Center.

Bill Torrey Tribute Night will honor original Team President, current Alternate Governor and Hockey Hall of Fame member Mr. William A. Torrey with a special pre-game banner-raising ceremony, South Florida Hockey Den of Honor case dedication, in-game tribute, and more as the Cats take on his former team in the Islanders.

“It will be a special night when the entire Florida Panthers organization honors a hockey legend and wonderful man in Bill Torrey,” said Panthers General Partner Cliff Viner. “Bill has become a great friend and everyone in this organization owes him a great debt of gratitude for what he has given to the Panthers franchise. I’m sure Saturday, Oct. 23 will be an evening that none of us will ever forget, and we hope that Bill will cherish these memories for the rest of his life.”

Bill Torrey Tribute Night is the latest example of the Panthers organization’s efforts to honor and reconnect with its past including Den of Honor Weekend 2010 and the hiring of former Cats Mike Santos (Asst. GM), Brian Skrudland (Director of Player Development) and Gord Murphy (Assistant Coach). For more information fans are encouraged to regularly check back to
