SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and FOX Sports Florida announced today the 71-game regular season telecast schedule for the 2009-10 Florida Panthers regular season. This season’s schedule, with play-by-play from Steve “Goldie” Goldstein and color commentary from former Panther Bill Lindsay, will feature six more telecasts from the year before and a tailored television schedule based heavily on feedback from Panthers fans. In addition, FOX Sports Florida will return with Panthers LIVE, the popular expanded postgame show featuring live interviews and commentary from inside the Panthers locker room.
“It is a testament to the excitement of Panthers hockey as well as our relationship with our friends at FOX Sports Florida that television coverage of the 2009-10 Panthers season will be as comprehensive as it’s ever been,” said Panthers president & COO Michael Yormark. “That said, our fans deserve a lot of credit for their feedback, which directly or indirectly led to much of the improvements that we will see this season.”
“FOX Sports Florida is delighted to continue our partnership with the Florida Panthers,” said Steve Liverani, Senior Vice President and General Manager, FOX Sports Florida & Sun Sports. “Our expanded schedule means Cats fans will get more exciting coverage of their favorite team along with the best of the NHL.”
FOX Sports Florida's strong Panthers lineup this season includes televising 71 Panthers regular season games, covering 36 of the 41 regular season road games and broadcasting five of the last six games of the season during the exciting Eastern Conference playoff race.
Fans will be able to watch the Cats on FOX Sports Florida in key matchups such as Opening Night Oct. 10 vs. New Jersey, a home and home with (think this is a typo) Washington on Nov. 6 & 7, Dec. 12 at Pittsburgh, New Year’s Eve Dec. 31 vs. Montreal, Feb. 13 vs. Boston, March 13 at San Jose, and the last game of the season, April 11 vs. Tampa Bay.
Of the 11 games not being broadcast by FOX Sports Florida, only three – Feb. 1 vs. Anaheim, Feb. 6 vs. Atlanta and March 29 vs. Nashville – are not available on the NHL Center Ice package. Meanwhile, the Panthers season-opening games vs. Chicago in Helsinki will be nationally televised on Versus (Oct. 2) and the NHL Network (Oct. 3). The remaining games not being broadcast by FOX Sports Florida are Oct. 12 at Tampa Bay, Nov. 14 vs. New York Islanders, Dec. 19 at Carolina, Jan. 16 vs. Tampa Bay, March 31 at Buffalo and April 3 vs. New York Rangers. All are available on the NHL Center Ice package.
Also, the INSIDE THE PANTHERS series returns with seven all-new editions on FOX Sports Florida. The unique show offers more in-depth player profiles with rare behind-the-scenes stories and interviews, plus episodes giving viewers inside access to other aspects of the team and its operations – all designed to bring fans closer to their favorite team. In addition, the FLORIDA PANTHERS PRESEASON SPECIAL, hosted by Frank Forte, premieres Saturday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m.
