SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Florida Panthers and FOX Sports have agreed to a multi-year extension on their official television rights partnership that will see FOX Sports Florida continue to be the home of Panthers hockey through the 2011-12 NHL season and beyond. As part of the extension, which officially begins for the 2012-13 season, FOX Sports Florida will broadcast every regular season Florida Panthers game, in HD, that is not prohibited by the League’s national television rights holders.
“Over the last few months we have been able to reposition the Florida Panthers franchise for long term growth and success,” said SSE president & chief operating officer Michael Yormark. “This latest announcement of a long term extension with FOX Sports Florida, coupled with the acquisitions made by GM Dale Tallon in June and July, and the hiring of new head coach Kevin Dineen, is an example of our continued commitment to providing exciting and successful Florida Panthers hockey to Cats fans and the South Florida community for many years to come.”
As part of the partnership, the Panthers will continue to take a lead role in sponsorship development for Panthers game coverage, as well as shoulder programming, on FOX Sports Florida. FOX Sports Florida will feature a 73-game regional telecast schedule for the 2011-2012 season while all of the telecasts will air throughout South Florida in HD.
