SUNRISE, FL – The Florida Panthers Alumni Association announced today that it has donated $5,000 in new youth hockey scholarships for the fall youth hockey season. Since its inception in 1997, the Florida Panthers Alumni Association has donated over $300,000 to youth hockey players and programs that otherwise could not afford the equipment and ice time required to play the game they love.
“The Panthers Alumni Association remains committed to helping youth hockey continue to grow in the South Florida community,” said Association President Randy Moller. “We hope these scholarships assist youth players with the costs involved in playing organized hockey.”
The Panthers Alumni Association grants scholarships twice a year. For the “fall” youth hockey season, 10 scholarships totaling $5,000 were granted. The most recently awarded grants will benefit individual youth hockey players of the JR. Panthers, Golden Wolves, Florida Alliance and Palm Beach Blackhawks. Grants are awarded based on academics, community service, team play, financial needs and endorsements from youth hockey organizations.
The Florida Panthers Alumni Association continues to support numerous other fundraising events and youth hockey organizations including the Florida Scholastic Hockey League.
