SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forward Alexander True on a one-year, two-way contract.

True, 25, scored 32 points (11-21-32) in 72 games during the 2022-23 season with the Seattle Kraken's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The 6-foot-5, 213-pound native of Copenhagen, Denmark has played in 27 career NHL games for San Jose (2019-20 to 2020-21) and Seattle (2021-22).

Skating in 335 AHL games, True collected 202 points (88-114-202) between the San Jose Barracuda (2017-18 to 2020-21), Charlotte Checkers (2021-22) and Coachella Valley Firebirds (2022-23). During the 2021-22 season, True had 42 points (18-24-42) in 60 games for the Charlotte Checkers leading all Charlotte skaters in scoring that year.

Undrafted, True signed an AHL contract with San Jose to play for the Barracuda (AHL) the summer prior to the 2017-18 season. He later went on to be selected by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.

He played three seasons (2014-15 to 2016-17) with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League (WHL) winning a WHL Championship during the 2016-17 season.

On the international stage, True represented Denmark at the 2015 IIHF U18 World Junior Championship (WJC) winning the gold medal, was voted a Top 3 Player on the Team for the 2016 U20 WJC and served as captain in 2017.
