SUNRISE, Fla.- Florida Panthers Executive VP/General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms with F Bobby Butler on a two-year contract. In addition, the club announced today that they have agreed to terms with F Eric Selleck on a one-year contract.
Butler, 26, has played in 128 career National Hockey League games with Ottawa (2009-2012), New Jersey (2012-2013) and Nashville (2012-13) scoring 20 goals with 28 assists and 26 PIM. He split last season with New Jersey and Nashville, appearing in 34 games while registering 11 (4-7-11) points. The Marlborough, MA, native also played in 37 games with Albany (AHL) last year scoring 16 goals with 11 assists.
Prior to turning pro, Butler played four years of college hockey at the University of New Hampshire. He completed his senior season ranking second among all NCAA Division I players with 29 goals scored, earning him a nomination as a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, as the top U.S. college hockey player. Butler was acquired by Florida from Nashville on June 14.
Selleck, 25, recorded 16 points (5-11-16) in 60 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) this season, while leading the club with 181 PIM. He made his NHL debut with Florida on Mar. 19 in Carolina and registered his first NHL point, an assist, on Apr. 27 at Tampa Bay.
Prior to turning pro, Selleck attended the State University of New York at Oswego where he played two seasons of NCAA Division III college hockey. He was the recipient of the SUNY Athletic Conference’s Most Valuable Player award for the 2009-10 season as well as rookie of the year in 2008-09.
