SUNRISE, Fla. -Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has acquired Forward Steven Lorentz and San Jose's own fifth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Forward Anthony Duclair.

"We're excited to welcome Steven to the Panthers," said Zito. "This move gives us long-term flexibility for our club, while also addressing needs of size, speed and depth for our forward group."

"A great ambassador for the sport of hockey, we would like to thank Anthony for his contributions to the Panthers organization and in the South Florida community," said Zito.

Lorentz, 27, skated in 80 regular season games in the 2022-23 season with San Jose, collecting a career-high 19 points (10-9-19). He has recorded 40 points (20-20-40) in 192 career NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes (2020-21-2021-22) and Sharks.

The 6-foot-4, 206-pound native of Kitchener, Ont. was originally selected by Carolina in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. Lorentz also won a Calder Cup championship with the American Hockey League (AHL) Charlotte Checkers in 2018-2019.
