Panther Postcard: Huberdeau's First All-Star Appearance

by Jonathan Huberdeau /

Dear Panthers fans,

The NHL All-Star Skills Competition was a fun, first-time experience especially competing in the Accuracy Shooting and how it's digital.

It was fun to get the chance to talk to guys you know but haven't seen in a while. Just the whole setup, it's very well organized by the NHLPA and the league.

I'm so lucky to have the support of my family here. We just tried to relax a little bit this weekend. I was looking forward to watching the Shooting Stars skill competition, we didn't know what to expect. It looked pretty fun but hard, it was cool to see the guys out there shooting from the stands. I talked to a lot of players on the bench I didn't really know and it's good because everyone has been really friendly.

It feels great and I'm just enjoying every moment of this. I asked the guys on the team that have been to an All-Star Game before and they said just enjoy it and it's a fun weekend.

I'm really looking forward to the game today. Obviously it's for fun but I still really want to win.

When it comes to our season, I think we've been playing simple and throughout the lineup everyone is contributing. We want to win every game but the streak was good before the break and we have to keep it going.

Consistency was a big thing I wanted to work on personally and I just want to work hard every shift. It's going to be a tough battle, we know there's really good teams in the division.

We know we have to work till the end of the season. I think every year I want to be better, but to make the playoffs is what matters most.

See you back in Florida,

Jonathan Huberdeau
