Walk Chair Yormark presents honored heroes with Cats season tickets for five years
SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Florida Panthers and President & COO Michael Yormark raised nearly $120,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2010 Light The Night Walk in Broward County, which took place this past Saturday, Nov. 13 at Huizenga Plaza in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The 2010 Light The Night Walk in Broward County was chaired by Yormark, with he and the Panthers Walk Team eclipsing their original fundraising goal of $100,000. The walk was attended by over 3,000 people. The Panthers walked in honor of former staff member Bill Nacewicz, who passed away after an arduous battle with cancer over a year ago.
The Panthers were honored as the top fundraising Corporate Walk Team at the event. In addition, Yormark presented Light The Night honored heroes C.J. George and Jamison Herron with four season tickets each for the next five years, to celebrate the special moments that both blood cancer survivors now have in front of them.
“I take cancer personally. But I didn’t realize just how personal it could get until I got involved with Light The Night. I really did not expect that my involvement in Light The Night would touch me on a very personal, and very emotional level,” Yormark said during his speech on Saturday night. “I want to thank every single person and organization that supported the Panthers’ commitment to Light The Night, and I want to urge you that the fight against cancer is far from over.”
Also on hand for the festivities were the Florida Panthers Ice Dancers, Stanley C. Panther, the Panthers Party Patrol, as well as Panthers staff members and executives.
