SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin announced today that LW Rostislav Olesz will undergo a surgical procedure on Wednesday, Jan. 28, in order to repair his sports hernia. The procedure will take place at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and will be conducted by Dr. William Meyers.
Before Tuesday evening's game at BankAtlantic Center against the Flyers, Martin said; "I think we'll wait to see after the surgery to shee how it goes. I don't know if it's eight weeks (out). It's hard to say with those things. Maybe eight to 12 weeks, but we'll have to wait to see how he progresses.
Olesz has not played since Dec. 6. In 23 games this season, he had two goals and three assists with four penalty minutes. In 56 games last season, Olesz had 14 goals and 12 assists. He missed time last season with a wrist injury.
"He never really got on track this year," said Martin of Olesz.
