Obviously, we’ll be missing two big pieces of the puzzle – Bryan McCabe and Nathan Horton - in Pittsburgh and Buffalo this week. It’s a tough break for the club.
But we got through something like this earlier in the season on the Canadian trip in December. We had a lot of guys injured and we were able to have a good trip (going 3-1). So we’ll recall on that, the way we played, and try to have another good trip.
It’s been a lot of fun being in the playoff race. There’s been a lot of work, a lot of disappointments and falling short. To be this close with this many games left in exciting. But it still feels like there’s 50 games left for us. We’re not celebrating yet. We’ve got to keep working and take it one game at a time and we’ll see where we’re at come the end.
We played Pittsburgh last week and I think we started good. We had a good first period, both teams were flying. We took some penalties though, and kind of got stuck in our end a little bit and they kind of took it over toward the end of the game. They got that second goal and it put us back on our heels and after that we couldn’t recover.
We’ll certainly have to be better against them tonight.
Talk to you soon.
