While Christmas is always a time that you want to spend relaxing with your friends and family, our packed schedule over the last few weeks has me really looking forward to a little rest. We’ll only have a day or so to relax and enjoy the holidays, but I know all of our guys are looking forward to it.
It's been tough going through this last part of the schedule (13 games in 22 days), but the fact that we have been playing well of late makes things a lot easier. We haven’t gotten a lot of time to rest our bodies, but at the same time when you're playing well, you want to keep playing. You get into a groove. For us right now, the more games, the better. We just want to keep this thing rolling as much as possible.
I think that the biggest change from earlier in the season to now is the consistency. We've been more consistent in terms of the way our battle level is every night. We're not giving teams easy goals any more, not giving up breakaways or odd man rushes. We're making teams earn their chances and goals against us. That's what we need to do. We need to be stingy. We're not going to score a ton of goals but we need to make sure we do the little things better than the other teams and lately we've been doing that and getting some points because of it.
It's been a lot of fun lately, especially for me. I haven't tried to change too much from earlier this season. Obviously when things are going well, you just feel more confident naturally and I'm just enjoying myself, enjoying my linemates and the guys. So I'm just trying to keep this thing going as long as possible.
My parents are in town this week for the Christmas break. I'm going to kick the feet up and relax for a couple of days and get ready to get back at it.
Happy Holidays to everyone out there and thanks for your support.
