Marlins react after No. 16 scores winner for Panthers

Jose Fernandez Day ended with OT goal by Aleksander Barkov @NHL

On a night when the Florida Panthers honored late Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez by wearing No. 16 jerseys during warmups, another No. 16, Aleksander Barkov, scored the game-winning goal against the New Jersey Devils.

The coincidence wasn't lost on the Marlins.

Marlins players Dee Gordon and Adam Conley were in attendance at BB&T Center to help honor Fernandez, who died Sept. 25 in a boating accident, and accept a $35,000 check from the team to Fernandez's foundation.

The Panthers also wore No. 16 decals on their helmets.
