Lightning Head Coach John Tortorella's Post-game Comments vs. the Panthers

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
Game Evaluation:
"I thought we had our best start in quite awhile. We couldn't score, and any shot they took they scored. After that it, I thought we, well we crawled back in it 2-1. We were still there, but we turned the puck over and (Marc) Denis gets split 3-1, and that's that."

Talk about pulling your goalie early:
"Did you watch the game? Then you make your own opinion."

Are you disappointed that your team wasn't able to shake it off:
"Well it was still 2-1. If we'd have got back in it 2-1, I though Marc (Denis) came in and made some good saves to keep us around. I think the most important goal was that third goal. If we can just get back in it 2-1...well we're not playing that well, but Marc (Denis) is giving us a chance and I think we got sloppy. We turned the puck over, and I don't know what happens to our defense. I mean we just get split, and they score a goal. That's where I think the game is, that's the most important part of the game. I thought our start was really good, but (Ed) Belfour was outstanding. They take two shots at home, and they're in the net. It can't happen that way. I don't care how good you are the other night, you need to be ready to go the next night. At this time of the year it's every game, so...that's where the game is. Marc (Denis) comes in and does a good job, and that third goal is the one that hurts us badly because we're still there but we get stubborn as far as the turnovers."

On being unable to come from behind or sticking to the game plan:
"Well I don't know, maybe it's a little lack of respect for our opponent. I think that's what happens sometimes. I don't know why we lack respect against this team because they've jammed it up our a**es quite a few times. Situations like the third goal and when we're down against other teams that puck is chipped in, and we get the job done. So, I think there's a little lack of respect as far as who we're playing against, and we have no right...none...to have that in any way in our thinking."
