JEREMY SMITH
Goalie
Plymouth (Ontario Hockey League)
6-0, 160 pounds

A native of Dearborn, Mi., Smith added to his reputation last winter when he suffered only one loss in his final in his last 18 games with the Plymouth Whalers dating back to Nov. 25. Before that he held a shutout streak of 151:37. Four of his 23 victories in 2006-07 were shutouts as he ended the season with a .923 save percentage and 2.59 goals against average.

Smith is a butterfly goalie who, according to Central Scouting, is “composed and strong in his crease” and is “well positioned on first and second shots.”

A silver medal winner with Team USA at the 2006 Under-18 Junior World Cup while posting a .928 save percentage, Smith handles the puck well and has excellent low-net coverage. Central Scouting says he needs to improve his ability to track the puck through traffic and that he could challenge the shooter more often.
