JAKUB VORACEK Right wing Halifax (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) 6-1, 187 pounds Central Scouting Final Ranking: No. 7
Ranked No. 15 at the Mid-Term rankings by Central Scouting, Voracek climbed into the top 10 at the end of the season and grabbed the No. 1 ranking by International Scouting Services.
Cam Russell, Voracek’s coach at Halifax, told The Globe and Mail: “He’s the kind of kid that if he takes a shot and misses the net he’ll be the first one on the rebound to pick up the loose puck. His feet are always moving.”
“I see a lot of Peter Forsberg-like traits. He’s solid on the puck and he’s not intimidated.”
A native of the Czech Republic, Voracek had 23 goals (86 points) in 59 games with Halifax. He was drafted No. 1 overall by Halifax in the 2006 CHL Import Draft. Central Scouting calls Voracek someone who “attacks with his feet moving and can execute plays at high speeds.”
“Has good passing ability and can play in traffic,” Central Scouting adds. “Shows something new on each rush.”
Voracek patterns his game after Peter Forsberg. Three people he’d like to invite to dinner: Actress Jessica Alba, soccer star Ronaldinho and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
