Jacques Martin's Post-Game Comments

Florida vs. Washington

What are your thoughts on the game. It seems like there were a lot shots and a lot of chances...

I think it there was 20-13 shots and it was a tight checking game. They took advantage of some of their opportunities. When you look at the first period, we had some good chances and they got the one goal on the one rush. Then we tied it up and got the power play goal and they capitalized on another good opportunity. I mean Ovechkin got their second goal, then we had bad luck in the third. I thought we had some good pressure and good chances. Then we took two penalties the same way; they got the third goal in the 5 on 3.

It;s one of those nights, their goalie was good and he made several good saves, lucky or not, he made the save. I thought we stayed out of the box; we did a much better job tonight, the two penalties and getting the puck out of the zone. Larman came in and gave us a real good game, his line created several chances with Stumpel and all that.

You guys handled it pretty well this year...what's been the difference?

I think if you remember last year, I think every game was by a goal. They were all close games, I think. Some of them I remember were in the shootouts even, the record was seven but they were close games so this year like I thought like tonight that last game in their building they took the lead tonight I thought we worked for sixty minutes and just came short.
