Florida Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Post Game Comments

Head Coach Jacques Martin

On Tampa Bay playing them hard for 60 minutes...

They are a good hockey team and we expected a tough battle. Probably the difference in the game was the specialty team. They did an outstanding job. We were able to get the one goal on the power play and it ended up being the winner. I think that five-on-five was pretty even on both sides. It was a hard fought battle. We had some strong goaltending, but it's a matter of inches. This is a team that won the Cup two years ago. They still have a lot of those players who are there, some key players.

On having a number of scoring chances...

He (Holmquist) had some good saves. We had some great opportunities and sometimes you can't control when the puck is going to go in. You just need to be persistent and hopefully, I think we are in the right direction as far as reducing the number of chances against us.

On the response after Tampa Bay's first goal...

I thought we responded pretty good with Kolnik getting our first goal and getting us going. Then, our second goal was really a good transition play, with our defense moving the puck to Roberts, who chipped it to Jokinen, and Jokinen made a perfect pass to Horton. It was really a great picture play.
