Jacques Martin's Post-Game Comments vs. Carolina

FLORIDA PANTHERS VS. CAROLINA HURRICANES

12.23.06

Florida Panthers Head Coach Jacques Martin:

Had the start you wanted, not the result:

Yeah, I thought we had a good effort. Its difficult to understand when you dominate a team with 36 shots, more than doubled them. The chances were 16-6 after 30 minutes. We had two power plays more than them. I don't know. I think we have to do some teaching of aspects of the game I guess.

Play of the game:

Yeah we didn't capitalize. If you look in the overtime there, I think it's a judgment call. One thing they do, they do well.

Tougher to lose to division rival?

Not because it's Carolina, its frustrating when you work as hard as you do in the game, when you dominate them, its difficult to get calls. I think if we get outshot or get dominated, at the end of the night the balance sheet is a lot different.

What was the difference in tonight's game?

We still dominated the game. After 60 minutes we had 16 scoring chances, they had 6. we didn't score, didn't capitalize. You can only do so much to finish up I guess.

People that produced:

We had production in the past from Stumpel's line, tonight was Jokinen's line. We had a turnover in the second period when they got the tying goal, and we had some opportunities we couldn't capitalize on.

You overcame the Rangers, does it sting to be on the other side?

It's frustrating like I said we dominated and we got one point instead of two.
