In the Pipeline: Prospects in the Finals

The Championship series for the Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and Western Hockey League are set to begin this week. The Florida Panthers will have representation in all three league finals as Christopher Clapperton (QMJHL), Jayce Hawryluk (WHL) and Josh Brown (OHL) will look to win their respective league's Championship and secure a spot to compete for the Memorial Cup in Quebec City.


JUNIORS

Christopher Clapperton – Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL)

In 11 playoff games, Clapperton ranks second on the Oceanic with 16 points (9-7—16). With a 6-0 win on April 29, Rimouski topped the Val-D’or Foreurs 4-0 in their third round series. Rimouski will head to the QMJHL Finals to compete for the President Cup against the Quebec Ramparts.

•Finished the regular season with 76 points (35-41—76) and a +33 rating in 61 games.

•Recorded QMJHL career-highs in goals (35) and points (77) this season.

•Selected by Florida in the fifth round (122nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Jayce Hawryluk – Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL)

Florida’s second round selection of the 2014 NHL Draft continues to be one of Brandon’s top offensive producers. Posting 12 points (5-7—12) in eight postseason games, including a four-point performance (2-2—4) in Brandon’s series clinching 8-2 win on May 1, Hawryluk ranks second in playoff scoring for the Wheat Kings. Hawryluk and the Wheat Kings topped the Calgary Hitmen 4-1 in their Eastern Conference Championship series. The 2015 Eastern Conference Champions are now on their way to competing for the Ed Chenowyth Cup in the WHL Finals against the Kelowna Rockets.



•Finished the regular season with 65 points (30-35—65) and a +42 rating in 54 games.

•Recorded WHL career-highs in goals (30) and points (65) this season.

•Selected by Florida in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Josh Brown – Oshawa Generals (OHL)

Brown, the Captain of the Oshawa Generals is headed to the OHL Finals after his club earned the OHL’s Eastern Conference Championship, the Bobby Orr Trophy in a 2-1 win over the North Bay Battalion. Oshawa topped the Battalion 4-2 in the series. The 6’5”, 213 lb. defenseman has notched two points (1-1—2) and 26 PIM in 16 playoff games for Oshawa. Brown and the Generals are set to face the Erie Otters for the J. Ross Robertson Cup as they take on two of the top prospects of the upcoming 2015 NHL Draft in Dylan Strome and potential number one overall selection, Connor McDavid. At a prolific scoring pace, McDavid leads the OHL in playoff points, recording 42 points (19-23—42) in 15 games.

•Recorded OHL career-highs in goals (4), assists (17), points (21), PIM (92) and +/- (+49) this season.

Signed an entry-level contract with Florida on Apr. 9

•Selected by Florida in the sixth round (152nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.
