Samuel Montembeault named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s first star of the month, Jayce Hawryluk scored his third hat trick of the season and Karch Bachman made his debut with Cedar Rapids in this week’s prospect report.
LEADING THE ARMADA
On Feb. 3, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced that Panthers goaltending prospect Samuel Montembeault was named January’s first star of the month. Montembeault has made an immediate impact in the second half of the season, earning a 5-2-1 record, a 1.89 goals against average, 0.926% save percentage and a shutout in the first month of the new year.
JAYCE, SO HOT RIGHT NOW
On Feb. 5, Jayce Hawryluk led the Wheat Kings to a 8-3 win over Prince George with a four-point night (3-1-4). Hawryluk registered his third hat trick of the season in the game and followed things up with a two-point game (0-2-2) the following night vs. Medicine Hat. In three games in February, Hawryluk has recorded eight points (3-5-8).
Karch Bachman made his debut with his new team, the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL) this weekend, scoring his first goal in his second game with the club. Bachman has recorded 18 points (13-5-18) in 31 games this season.

Feb. 6 – Portland Pirates vs. Providence Bruins (3-1 L)
The Pirates dropped both of their games last weekend to division rivals. Greg McKegg scored Portland’s lone goal on Feb. 6 vs. Providence. Connor Brickley and Josh Brown recorded the assists on the goal. Brown’s assist was his first career AHL point.
