Back at the Barn

Splitting the weekend in San Antonio, the Rampage faced the Toronto Marlies and division rivals the Oklahoma City Barons.

The Rampage played a close game against the Marlies, getting some offense from Shane O’Brien and call up Andrew Yogan. After a 2-1 lead, the Marlies stormed back with two unanswered goals to take the game. Goaltender Dan Ellis made 23 saves on 26 shots.

San Antonio bounced back on Sunday defeating OKC 3-1. The Rampage scored three unanswered goals against the Barons, holding them without a goal until the final 17 seconds of the game. Bobby Butler recorded two goals in the contest, while Steven Kampfer scored the game’s second goal. Garrett Wilson recorded a team-high three assists and a plus-two rating with five shots. Dan Ellis made his second consecutive start, turning aside 20 of 21 shots.

Rocco Returns

After a four-game stint with Florida including his first career NHL game (Nov. 1 vs. PHI), Rocco Grimaldi returned to the San Antonio lineup the night after suiting up for Florida against Calgary (Nov. 8). Grimaldi has four points (1-3-4) in nine games with the Rampage in his first professional season.

CINCINNATI CYCLONES

CYCLONES GO 1-1-1 ON WEEKEND

Playing three consecutive games this past weekend, the Cyclones opened the weekend with a win against the Indy Fuel. The 3-1 decision saw Byron Froese, Josh Shalla and Stephan Vigier record goals.

Sam Brittain made 14 saves on 18 shots in the close 4-3 loss to the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday (Nov. 8).

The Cyclones were unable to top the Toledo Walleye in a 4-3 shootout Sunday (Nov. 9). Defenseman Shayne Taker owned a plus-three rating in the contest.

- 2014 draft choice Jayce Hawryluk (second round, 32nd overall) has posted 25 points (12-13-25) in 18 games for the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL).

COLLEGE

- 2011 draft choice Kyle Rau (third round, 91st overall) has posted 12 points (3-9-12) in eight games for the University of Minnesota.

- 2013 draft choice Michael Matheson (first round, 23rd overall) has five points (1-4-5) in eight games for Boston College.
