Wild night in San Antonio

The Rampage trumped the Iowa Wild 8-3 on Jan. 10 in their first game of their four-game homestand. The Silver and Black had eight different goal scorers in the contest, with F Garrett Wilson earning the game’s first star honors as he recorded two points (1-1—2) in the contest and scored the game-winning goal. G Dan Ellis made 28 saves on 31 shots to secure the win.

Roc n’ rollin’

In the month of January, Grimaldi has recorded six points (2-4—6) in seven games. Grimaldi ranks fourth in scoring on San Antonio with 22 points (6-16—22).

Leading the Way

F Bobby Butler leads the Rampage in scoring with 34 points (15-19—34) in 35 games. Butler ranks fifth in AHL scoring.

Trade Made

The Florida Panthers acquired F Corban Knight from the Calgary Flames in exchange for F Drew Shore. Knight recorded 12 points (8-4—12) in 22 games this season with the Adirondack Flames. Knight recorded an assist in his Rampage debut Jan. 10 vs. Iowa.

The Oliver, British Columbia native was selected by Florida in the fifth round (135th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft.

Great Brittain

G Sam Brittain recorded his seventh win of the season with a 4-1 win over the Indy Fuel. Brittain turned aside 27 of 28 shots in the victory. Brittain earned his first call-up to the NHL on Jan. 5.

Weegar Assigned

On Jan. 6, D MacKenize Weegar was assigned to Cincinnati. Weegar has recorded five points (1-4—5) in 19 games for San Antonio this season. The Ottawa, Ontario native was selected by Florida in the seventh round (206th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.

- 2013 draft choice Michael Matheson (first round, 23rd overall) has 14 points (2-12–14) in 21 games for Boston College.

- 2013 draft choice Michael Downing (fourth round, 97th overall) has 12 points (4-8—12) and 39 PIM in 19 games for the University of Michigan.

- 2013 draft choice Ian McCoshen (second round, 31st overall) has recorded five points (2-3—5) in 18 games for Boston College and recently represented Team USA at the 2015 World Junior Championship.
