The Florida Panthers announced today that RW Nathan Horton, C Stephen Weiss
and D Noah Welch will attend the second Cats Cookout of the summer on Tuesday, May 15 at 6 p.m. Both players will available for approximately one hour to meet with the fans, sign autographs and take photos.
Parking, admission and food are all free.
“There is no better place to lock up your great seats for the upcoming Panthers season then by attending one of our Cats Cookouts,” Sr. VP of Sales & Marketing Chad Johnson said. “The feedback from our prior cookouts has been tremendous and we encourage all prospective fans to come join us to learn more about the benefits of becoming a Panthers season seat holder.”
The second Cats Cookout will also include a special announcement surrounding the 1996 Stanley Cup team. The team, led by Brian Skrudland, John Vanbiesbrouck, Scott Mellanby and Bill Lindsay, won the Eastern Conference Championship during a season known as the ‘Year of the Rat.’ The announcement will include special guests.
At the Cats last Cookout on April 26, more than 750 fans attended and saw Panthers Captain Olli Jokinen present a check for $21,000 to the American Cancer Society’s R.O.C.K Program. Luggage Express, who teamed up with Jokinen during the 2006-07 season, donated $21,000 to the JAFCO Children’s Foundation. Both Jokinen and Luggage Express donated $500 for every goal and $250 for every assist Jokinen had at home during the season.
Also at the Cats last Cookout on April 26, fans in attendance were treated to the announcement that future Hall of Famer Joe Nieuwendyk was rejoining the Panthers as a Special Consultant to the GM. Nieuwendyk had retired suddenly earlier in the season because of back problems. He decided to stay with the Panthers even though he had offers from other teams to join their front offices.
