Bolts, Caps and Broadway Blueshirts Head to South Florida this Week
With their 4-3 shootout win over the Washington Capitals on Saturday night, the Florida Panthers now sit just six points behind the Montreal Canadiens for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 15 games to play in the regular season. The Cats will host a trio of big games at the BankAtlantic Center this week, beginning with their intrastate rivals the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday, followed by their Southeast divisional foes the Washington Capitals on Wednesday and the Atlantic division leading NY Rangers on Friday.
"We have three crucial games at home this week that are huge for our club," said head coach Jacques Martin. "Our team has been playing really well at home this season and we hope to continue to build off this momentum. It should prove to be an exciting week of hockey at the BankAtlantic Center and we look forward to playing in front of some great crowds."
The Panthers have picked up 11 out of a possible 14 points in their last seven contests (5-1-1), including a 4-1-0 mark in their last five games played at the BankAtlantic Center, with a pair of victories over the Southeast division leading Carolina Hurricanes, as well as wins over the Northeast division leading Ottawa Senators and the NY Islanders. The Cats who have earned 19 home victories have already surpassed their home win total from last season and with their 28th win last night the Panthers have already tied their mark for overall wins in a season from the 2003-04 campaign.
