It was an eerie resemblance to the night before. Well almost for the Kitchener Rangers and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in their second game of the OHL Eastern Conference Championships.
The final score was the same with the game-winner coming in the second period, but Thursday night it was the Greyhounds getting the best of the Rangers by a score of 3-1 to even the series at a game a piece.
Three of the four goals came in the second period as the Greyhounds got on the board 1:35 into the second period as Wayne Simmonds scored his fifth of the post-season. The Rangers tied the score when Scott Tregunna scored his second at the 9:45 mark. Then receiving their third power play of the night, Sault Ste. Marie cashed in as Matt Caria scored at 14:13 for his sixth.
And then it was hold on time for the Greyhounds as the Rangers put shot after shot on net. But to no avail. Kyle Gajewski turned away 43 of the 44 shots he faced, including 13 in the final period. The Rangers actually outshot the Greyhounds 44-18 on the night.
Andrew Campbell recorded the final tally of the night with an empty net goal at 19:41.
The series now shifts to Sault Ste. Marie for two games on April 20th and 21st.
Mike Duco finished the game a -1.More Information
