Goldie's Tips for Tonight's Game

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers

It's back to work tonight for the Panthers with the second of a three game homestand. The Cats lost to Atlanta on Wednesday to put their playoff hopes nearly out of reach. Mathematically they are still in it but need divine intervention to reach the post season. With that said, this team has had a great run giving all of us a playoff race for the first time in years. With six games to go the Panthers can still accomplish quite a bit. By playing well these last few weeks the Cats will be the fourth winningest Panther team and finish over .500 for only the fourth time as well. Roberto Luongo has set the single season wins record and will be the winningest goalie in franchise history. Captain Olli Jokinen becomes the second Panther ever to reach 80 points in a season (Pavel Bure did it twice). Tonight should be exciting with teenager Sidney Crosby at the BankAtlantic Center.

KEEP ON PUSHING...The Panthers veterans will not allow this team to quit. Although they've lost three of four and are basically playing for pride more than anything else, Florida is still determined to finish on a high note. There will be a big crowd to keep the Panthers intense.

OH THOSE PENALTIES...The Cats have done many things right this season but staying out of the penalty box isn't one of them. You can make the case the infractions cost them the last three games. Pittsburgh's power play is pretty good and the last thing the Panthers need is a night shorthanded.

Game time tonight is 7:30 amd once again it isn't on TV. The arena will have great atmosphere and tickets are still available. You can listen on 1360 AM starting at 7. Enjoy the game!!!
