Goldie Blogs on Vokoun Trade

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
"Kick save by Vokoun!"

Once again the Panthers make headlines on NHL draft day. The team has a history of activity on the day of the entry draft and today the Cats acquired goalie Tomas Vokoun from Nashville for next year's first round pick and two second round picks picks this year. He is a top 7 goalie in the league, has had great success and is signed for the next four years. It is shaping up to be quite an off-season for the Panthers. They are locking up their own players long term and now have a goalie in his prime to carry the ball. Panthers management is proving it is committed to putting a winning team on the ice and is spending the money to do so. All signs are looking up. Vokoun joins Olli Jokinen, Nathan Horton, Bryan Allen, Mike Van Ryn, Ruslan Salei, Cory Murphy and Ville Peltonen on the list of Panthers signed to multi-year deals. The plan is to add Jay Bouwmeester and Stephen Weiss to that list.

July 1st, the opening day of free agency,  will bring 3 or 4 new forwards into the picture. Wish there was a game tonight!
