Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today G Jacob Markstrom has been recalled from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL).
Markstrom, 21, returns to the Panthers after playing in five games with Florida to start the season. The netminder posted a 2-2-1 record with a .944 save percentage and a 2.05 goals-against average with Florida, including a Panthers-season-high, 40-save effort to earn the win Oct. 24 at Montreal. Markstrom stopped 29-of-31 shots in his first career NHL start Oct. 18 at Washington and earned his first career NHL win on Oct. 22 vs. the New York Islanders, turning away 18 shots in a third period relief appearance.
The Gavle, Sweden native has posted a 2-3-0 record with a 3.60 GAA and a .879 SV% with San Antonio since being assigned to the Rampage Nov. 7. Markstrom was drafted by Florida in the first round (31st overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Florida begins a four-game homestand tonight when it hosts the Pittsburgh Penguins. The game can be seen on FOX Sports Florida and heard on 560 WQAM at 7:30 p.m.
