Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with G Al Montoya.
Montoya, 29, has played in 91 career National Hockey League games for Phoenix (2008-2009), New York Islanders (2010-2012) and Winnipeg (2012-2014), posting a 37-26-13 with a 2.63 GAA and a .910 save percentage. He appeared in 28 games for Winnipeg during the 2013-1014 season going 13-8-3 with a 2.30 GAA.
The Chicago, Illinois native, played three years of college hockey at the University of Michigan, posting two 30-win seasons. On the international level, he has represented the USA four times at both the World Championships and the World Junior Championships (2004, 2005, 2009 & 2011), winning a Gold Medal in 2004.
Montoya was drafted by the New York Rangers with their first choice (sixth overall) in the 2004 NHL Draft.
