SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has re-signed goaltender Philippe Desrosiers to a one-year, two-way contract.
Desrosiers, 25, appeared in 29 American Hockey League (AHL) regular season games with the Springfield Thunderbirds in 2019-20, posting a 16-10-2 record, .916 save percentage and 3.05 goals against average.
Originally selected by the Dallas Stars in the second round (54th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Desrosiers has played in 72 career AHL regular season games owning a 33-28-3 record, .913 save percentage, 2.78 goals against average and two shutouts.
He has also appeared in 106 career ECHL regular season games, notching a 53-33-12 mark, a .908 save percentage, 2.85 goals against average and four shutouts. Over 17 ECHL playoff games, Desrosiers produced a .929 save percentage and 2.19 goals against average.
Desrosiers played four seasons (2011-12 to 2014-15) with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and helped lead the club to a 2015 QMJHL Championship.
With Rimouski, he was named to the 2012-13 All-Rookie Team, won the 2012-13 Raymond Lagace Trophy for the league's Defensive Rookie of the Year, earned the 2014-15 Jacques Plante Trophy for the QMJHL's best goals against average (2.50) and was named the 2014-15 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Goaltender of the Year.
On the international stage, Desrosiers won a Gold Medal with Team Canada at the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championship where he posted a 5-0-0 record, a .970 save percentage, 0.80 goals against average and two shutouts.
