SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that Bryan McCabe has been promoted to the role of director of player personnel. McCabe has served in a player development role for the Panthers for the last five seasons, most recently serving as director of player development.

"We are pleased to announce Bryan's new position as our club's director of player personnel," said Tallon. "Bryan has excelled in helping develop our prospects both on and off the ice, with many of our young guys becoming core players during his time with the club. He has earned the opportunity to take on an expanded role within our day-to-day hockey operations."

"I am excited about continuing to take on more responsibility with the Panthers organization," said McCabe. "I have really enjoyed my time scouting and working with our prospects as Director of Player Development. While continuing to work with our prospects, I look forward to the challenge of my new role as we compete towards our goal of winning the Stanley Cup."

McCabe, 42, appeared in 1,135 NHL games, recording 528 points (145-383-528) for the New York Rangers (2011), Florida (2008-11), Toronto Maple Leafs (2000-08), Chicago Blackhawks (1999-00), Vancouver Canucks (1998-99), and New York Islanders (1995-98).

As a member of the Panthers, McCabe served as the franchise's sixth captain and skated in his 1,000th NHL game. The New York Islanders originally selected the native of St. Catharines, Ontario, in the second round (40th overall) of the 1993 NHL Draft.
