Foundation Enjoys Successful Fundraisers at Draft Party
SUNRISE, FL – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment and the Florida Panthers announced today that the Florida Panthers Foundation raised over $5,000 in the month of June, highlighted by a number of lucrative fundraising efforts at the Panthers Draft Party on June 22 at the Park Sports Bar & Grill.
During the Draft Party, the Foundation raised money through the “Panthers VIP Den” seating area, raffle and silent auction. Fans were able to enjoy complimentary food and drink at the VIP seating area while meeting Florida Panthers’ superstar Nathan Horton. Raffle prizes included Miami Dolphins tickets, signed Florida Panthers merchandise and tickets to upcoming shows at the BankAtlantic Center while the silent auction included signed NHL memorabilia.
“The success of our Draft Party fundraisers was important to the Foundation as we continue to find ways to raise money throughout the summer months,” said Executive Director Alaina Miller. “We are very much looking forward to our fundraising efforts surrounding the ’96 Panthers Reunion on July 27 and 28. We plan to offer fans a way to purchase memorabilia from this historic reunion while having a chance to win unique prizes.”
The Florida Panthers Foundation will be involved in the ’96 Reunion festivities with a variety of fundraising plans. Tentative plans include a mystery puck night featuring pucks signed by members of the historic ’96 team as well as selling the infamous rats from that ’96 run to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Also in the month of June, the Foundation donated cell phones to Women in Distress, an organization dedicated to providing a safe place for victims of domestic violence.
In addition, the Florida Panthers Foundation supported various charities and fundraising events during the month, donating over $20,000 worth of silent auction items, including Panthers tickets, concert tickets and signed memorabilia, to the following events: the JM Family Adopt a Family Fundraiser, HSMAI Charity Auction, the Civil Air Patrol and United Cerebral Palsy of Broward County.
Over the past year the Florida Panthers Foundation has donated Florida Panthers game tickets and auction items including team-signed jerseys and sticks and Zamboni rides to various South Florida charities. Recipients include: Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Broward County, American Cancer Society, JAFCO, Homestead Air Reserve, Soref JCC, Boys & Girls Club, Miami Disadvantaged Youth, Dept. of Naval Science, American Jewish Community, City of Plantation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, H.O.P.E., Camelot Community Center, Stellar Kids, the Andy Roddick Foundation and Rock and Wrap It Up!.
