by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that the Florida Panthers Foundation raised over $100,000 during its inaugural Cats & Cocktails event.

Florida Panthers sponsors and supporters were able to interact with Panthers players and personalities in an intimate setting at Louie Bossi’s Ristorante in Fort Lauderdale. The evening featured dinner, entertainment by Florida Panthers tenor, Ghaleb along with a live and silent auction. Among the featured auction items were fishing with captain Willie Mitchell and Nick Bjugstad, an original painting of the Panthers 2016 All-Star players by Joseph Gormley, becoming a Panther Pro for a day for one lucky kid and golfing with Shawn Thornton and Derek MacKenzie.

“We are so happy with the event and extremely pleased with the money we raised for the foundation,” Florida Panthers Foundation Executive Director Lauren Simone said. “We greatly appreciate the players for helping to make the event such a success. We look forward to future foundation events to help raise money to make a true impact on the South Florida community.”

The Florida Panthers Foundation focuses on supporting youth hockey in South Florida, children’s health and education, military veterans as well as the Florida Panther endangered species.
