by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that the Florida Panthers Foundation has given a $100,000 community match donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County to recuperate funds lost from the Department of Education appropriation in fiscal year 2015-2016 for Boys & Girls Club of Broward County math, reading and homework help programs in Broward County.

This contribution supports the Boys & Girls Club’s Youth Education Success (Y.E.S.) program which serves in 12 clubs across Broward County. The Y.E.S. program seeks to improve math and reading competency levels for students in grades 1-8 with holistic approaches to education. The match donation provided the Y.E.S. program access to more resources and members to help grow the program.

“We are honored to contribute this donation to the Boys & Girls Club,” said Executive Director of Florida Panthers Foundation Lauren Simone. “We are thrilled that we are able to help fill the gap to continue this vital program at the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County.”

Florida Panthers Chief Operating Officer Matthew Caldwell is also a part of the Boys & Girls Club Corporate Board of Directors to help guide the program.

In accordance with the Florida Panthers Foundation’s mission to assist families and children in the area pursue enhanced health, education and fitness, the partnership will see the Panthers and Boys & Girls Club working to improve education, fitness and health of children in need.

Due to the positive benefits of this donation, the Florida Panthers will match every dollar given to the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County this year.
