SUNRISE, Fla. -Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations Dale Tallon announced today that the Panthers have assigned forward Denis Malgin to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds prior to recalling goaltender Reto Berra.

Malgin, 20, has recorded eight points (4-4-8) in 39 games with the Panthers during his first NHL season. The 5-foot-9, 177-pound native of Olten, Switzerland was originally selected by Florida in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Berra, 30, owns a 9-8-2 record with a 2.24 goals against average, .918 save percentage and three shutouts this season with Springfield. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound native of Bulach, Switzerland was originally selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft.

The Florida Panthers return from their four-game road trip to begin a four-game homestand beginning on Jan. 26 (7:30 P.M.), against their intrastate rivals, the Tampa Bay Lightning.
