SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers announced today that Florida Panthers Alumni Association has granted $3,000 to the FSHL (Florida Scholastic Hockey League).
Both North Broward Preparatory and Stoneman Douglas will each receive a $1000 alumni grant and represent South Florida at the USA Hockey High School National Championships in Reston, Va., this March.
The Panthers Alumni Association will also grant the FSHL $1,000 towards travel costs for sending a local team to the Annual High School Showcase in Pittsburgh, Pa., coached by Panthers alumni Peter Worrell.
“The Alumni Association aims to support youth hockey in South Florida and help the game grow throughout our community,” Alumni Association President Randy Moller said. “We hope that this grant towards the FSHL will help impact the players’ love for the game both on and off the ice.”
The Panthers Alumni Association has donated over $300,000 to youth hockey players, teams, associations and programs who could not afford the ice time and equipment required to otherwise play the game.
