SUNRISE, Fla -The Florida Panthers announced today that the Florida Panthers Alumni Association has awarded more than $16,000 to 18 youth hockey players from seven different associations for the Fall youth hockey travel season. This scholarship imbursement is the largest individual pledge by Panthers Alumni since their inception over 20 years ago.

This fall period the players that were awarded the scholarship funds were from seven different associations including: Jr. Panthers, Golden Wolves, Palm Beach Blackhawks, Sharpshooters, Miami Toros, Palm Beach Breakers and Tampa Bay Jr. Girls. All six rinks in South Florida and one in Tampa were represented in the scholarships awarded.
"One of the Alumni Association's goals is to grow the game of youth hockey in South Florida," said Alumni Association President Randy Moller. "We hope these scholarships can impact a young hockey players passion for the sport of hockey and help them continue to grow and learn the game."
The awardees come from travel and high school programs around the Florida area and were granted based on academic achievement, financial need and merit and community involvement, rather than their skills or talent on the ice.
