SUNRISE, Fla. -Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today that defenseman Petteri Lindbohm has agreed to terms on a one-year contract.
"Petteri is a physical, experienced and capable defenseman who has succeeded on various levels of international hockey," said Zito. "He recently showcased what he can do contributing to Finland's Gold Medal at the Olympics and we look forward to what he can add to our Panthers blueline."
Lindbohm, 28, skated in 40 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues from 2014-15 to 2016-17, producing three points (2-1-3).
The 6-foot-3, 198-pound native of Helsinki, Finland has also appeared in 171 American Hockey League (AHL) games with the Chicago Wolves, from 2014-15 to 2017-18, amassing 48 points (18-30-48).
Lindbohm spent the 2021-22 season with Jokerit of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), logging eight points (3-5-8) over 45 games. During the 2013-14 season, Lindbohm skated in 18 games with Jokerit when the club was a member of Liiga, posting one assist, and 19 games with Ässät, recording five points (1-4-5).
On the international stage, Lindbohm represented Finland at the 2022 Winter Olympics where he helped his country earn their first Olympic Gold Medal in ice hockey, notching two assists over six tournament games. He also earned a Gold Medal (2019) and a Silver Medal (2021) at the IIHF World Championships, skating with current Panthers forwards Eetu Luostarinen in 2019 and Anton Lundell at the 2021 tournament. Lindbohm served as captain for Finland at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, a team which included Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov.
Originally selected by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Lindbohm has also played professionally in the Swiss National League with Lausanne HC (2018-19 to 2019-20) and EHC Biel-Bienne (2020-21).
