SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers Executive VP & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms with C Brad Boyes on a one-year contract.
Boyes, 31, has appeared in 606 National Hockey League games, with the San Jose Sharks (2003-2004), Boston Bruins (2005-2007), St. Louis Blues (2006-2011), Buffalo Sabres (2011-2012) and the New York Islanders (2012-2013) registering 407 points (168-239-407) and 191 PIM. Last season while playing for the Islanders, Boyes placed third on the club with 35 points (10-25-35) in 48 games played.
The 6-foot, 200-pound center has recorded at least 40 points five times in his nine-year NHL playing career and at least 25 goals on three different occasions. He recorded a NHL career high 43 goals while playing for St. Louis during the 2007-2008 campaign and a career high 72 points (33-39-72) the following year. He was named to the NHL All-Rookie team in 2005-2006.
The Mississauga, Ontario native played his junior career with the Erie Otters (OHL). He earned the Red Tilson Trophy (most outstanding player in OHL) in 2001 and 2002.
Boyes was drafted by Toronto in the first round (24th overall) in 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
