by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers General Manager Randy Sexton announced today that the club has acquired the Pittsburgh Penguins second round draft pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for D Jordan Leopold. Leopold, 29, was acquired by Florida in exchange for D Jay Bouwmeester and a third round draft pick in the 2009 NHL Entry on June 27, 2009 and he signed a one-year contract with Florida on July 2, 2009.

SEXTON ON TRADE

First of all. Leo's a terrific player," said Sexton following the NHL trade call Monday morning. "He did a great job here. When we chatted this morning, he was very grateful for the opportunity we gave him to get his career back on track and he did.

"From our perspective, we're shifting things around. A second round pick, we think is fair value and good value. I know Pittsburgh's delighted to have him. It's just another step in the process that we started a couple of weeks ago."
